Firefighters did a great job at Granby blaze

To the Editor:We would like to publicly thank the Granby Fire Department, the firefighting crew from Fraser and the utility crews from Mountain Parks Electric and Excel Energy for their efforts and service on the fire at 505 E. Pine Drive in Granby on Dec. 30.We would also like to thank the many neighbors and community members that called to advise us of the fire and offer help with evacuating our pet. It is a great feeling to know that we have a well trained and equipped fire department and great caring people in our community. It was not our home that was on fire. Our house and garage are adjacent to the garage and house that were in flames. While we were never at a life or death risk from this incident, we know that our property was at risk. The response time for the first crew arriving at the scene was less than 10 minutes from the time our son placed a 911 call. Thanks to the Fire Department’s rapid response and excellent fire fighting that afternoon, we did not sustain any major visible damage to our garage or home.We believe that if the response time had not been what it was, our garage or maybe even our house may have been victim to the fire. By the time we were able to get home the garage and home at 505 E. Pine were fully in flames yet the crews on the scene were able to protect the surrounding homes in the neighborhood from any significant fire damage. Thank you!We were impressed with the direction of Jimmy Cautrell and the coordination of the crews at the scene fighting the fire and protecting the nearby homes. We have always been proponents of the district and seeing them in action reinforces our continued support. We are all well aware how much time and effort goes into developing a department but really never think about it until you see it in action at a personal level. Thank you Grand Fire Protection District No. 1 again for your efforts on and off the scene.Kelly & Jodi Griesch, and Mike TriplettGranby
