Firefighters responding to possible wildfire outbreak near Black Mountain
Firefighters and other Grand County first responders are rushing to the Black Mountain area west of Kremmling Tuesday afternoon on reports of a fire outbreak in the area.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon officials from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office confirmed reports of a possible wildfire outbreak in an as yet undefined location in the area near Pumphouse and Radium Hot Springs. Authorities believe the fire may be located near the edge of Black Mountain though an exact location was not yet available.
Black Mountain is located slightly northwest of Pumphouse and the Colorado River.
Officials from the Sheriff’s Office said a smoke plume is visible from the Kremmling area. Firefighters from the Kremmling Fire Protection District are responding with assistance from the Sheriff’s Department. A helicopter, initially attached to the Silver Creek Fire suppression efforts, is also providing assistance.
Officials said the smoke plume originating from the Black Mountain area is not related to the ongoing Silver Creek Fire wildfire incident.
