Five-acre fire burning near Cottonwood Pass in Granby

A 5-acre fire is currently burning near County Road 55, the Cottonwood Pass area, according to Nowell Curran, Grand County Emergency Manager.

The fire was reported around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. The following agencies responded and are on-scene now: Hot Sulphur Fire, Grand Fire, Grand Lake Fire, and East Grand Fire and the Sheriff’s office.

Curran asks that the public let responders get in there and contain the fire.

Grand County is on a Red Flag warning and no restrictions are in place. The situation is assessed everyday to determine if a fire ban should be implemented, Curran said.
