Former Granby Mayor Ed Raffety dies

Sky-Hi News Staff

Ed Raffety, a former Granby mayor and Grand County resident for 42 years, died on Jan. 1 of natural causes in Denver, according to an obituary submitted for publication next week.

A park in Granby was named after the tireless champion of recreational amenities. He was also instrumental in securing a town police department for Granby.

Additionally, he started the town’s primary grocery outlet and operated it for 20 years before selling it. After another name change, it closed when City Market opened.

Raffety and his wife moved to Denver in fall 2011 as a matter of convenience, according to an article at the time.
