Former western Colorado DA ordered to stand trial
MONTROSE – A judge has ordered a former western Colorado prosecutor to stand trial on the charge that he subjected a female employee to forcible unlawful sexual contact.
The Montrose Daily Press reports that Mesa County Judge David Bottger Friday found there was enough evidence to try Myrl Serra, a former district attorney based in Montrose. His trial is set for July 18.
Serra also faces a preliminary hearing April 1 on the charge of violating his bond in the sexual misconduct case by harassing one of the witnesses in a local store.
Serra has denied all the charges. An acting district attorney has been appointed to replace Serra, who resigned after his arrest last fall on several charges, including official misconduct for allegedly coercing sexual favors from female employees.
