Fraser Adventure Park announces naming contest winner

Last month, a contest was held among the students at Fraser Valley Elementary School to name the new adventure park located at Byers Peak Ranch outside of Fraser. After considering dozens of creative names, the name chosen as the best was “Colorado Adventure Park.”

Sam Chasin, a second grader at Fraser Elementary, submitted the name and will receive a free annual family pass to the adventure park this year.

The name Colorado Adventure Park was chosen because it denotes a facility full of different adventurous activities. The park is planned to have tubing hills, a snow scoot track, an ice skating rink, a snow play area with an igloo/icehouse, three ski jumps, a small sledding hill, cross-country skiing and an upscale rustic lodge for concessions, rentals and storage. The lodge will also have a large sun deck for watching the activities and relaxing.

The adventure park is expected to open in January with tubing, snow scoots and a temporary warming hut facility. With the summer to complete the site work, the Colorado Adventure Park hopes to open all recreational facilities for the 2009-2010 Winter Season.
