Fraser board approves housing consulting contract

The Fraser Board of Trustees approved a contract for affordable housing consultant services not to exceed $40,000 at its Feb. 17 meeting.
WSW Consulting and town staff will continue to negotiate the scope of the contract, which will include a housing needs assessment, a review of the development environment in Fraser and a pro forma. WSW originally sent the town a proposal for services with a price tag of $45,000. A pro forma examining a particular site in the town for the purpose of determining developing costs would cost an additional $5,000. But some trustees were hesitant to approve such a large expenditure, and the board attempted to pare down the scope of services in the proposal.
Wendy Sullivan with WSW Consulting said some items could probably be eliminated to reduce costs.
