FRASER The Town of Fraser recently received a $2,000 grant from the Colorado Tree Coalition and used the grant to fund the “Foliage for Fraser!” program by planting 12 trees at a publicly-owned focal location in the center of town and adjacent to U.S. Highway 40 on town-owned property.

Children who attend Fraser Valley Elementary School participated in the planting of the trees on Tuesday, June 4, which was done in conjunction with Arbor Day. The children were escorted by local police to the tree planting site and learned how planting trees benefits the town environmentally and culturally by encouraging community interaction.

The CTC is a non-profit organization dedicated to leading statewide efforts in preserving, renewing, and enhancing community forests. Thanks to on-going financial and administrative support from the USDA Forest Service and the Colorado State Forest Service, dues-paying members and financial partners, the Coalition has awarded 454 grants totaling over $696,000 since 1991. These grants have been matched with over $7.6 million in community money and time. As a result of these grants, over 68,600 trees have been planted throughout the state.
