Fraser Rec candidate running because ‘I think I can help’
To the Editor:
Several folks have written and contacted me to share their thoughts and concerns with my running for the rec district board. The overriding question seems to be, “Why?” The answer is simple: I think I can help.
I’ve sat for more than 20 years on nonprofit boards in Grand County and I know how they operate. I know what financial information a board needs and when they need it and I know how to understand it and draw conclusions from it. I also think it’s time to stop bickering and calling each other names. I’m not in this to get back at anyone or stop anything.
We’ve got a rec center now, let’s make it the best one we can afford. Pete Strohecker has been my friend for more years than I care to forget. I have a high regard for him. I have a great deal of respect for John Glancey and believe he would also make a capable board member. I’m just offering to help.
As we move forward, I’d appreciate it if folks would not put words in my mouth or impugn my motives. And in turn, I’ll refrain from the name-calling when it’s your turn to raise your hand to do something for this community.
