Fraser River Valley Trail closes for repaving

A 1.6 mile section of the Fraser River Valley Trail will be closed for three weeks this summer for a repaving project that will ultimately create a smoother trail experience.
From about .3 miles south of Roam Way to where the trail connects to Trademark Drive, the trail will be closed to the public. The anticipated start date of the project is the week after Memorial Day.
The trail was originally constructed over a decade ago. Weather, drainage issues and natural use has created cracks, erosion and other issues along the path. This repaving project will address these conditions and enhance the trail’s accessibility for all users.
There are sections of the trail that will require additional engineering to fully repair and will be completed at a later date, according to the release.
The project received a $250,000 Grand County Open Lands, Rivers, and Trails program grant, which will cover 38.5% of the total project costs.
While the construction schedule is dependent on weather and temperature conditions, the project is anticipated to be completed within two to three weeks.
Jamie Wolter, the public works director for Winter Park, called this project an “important investment in one of our most popular community trails.”
Trail users should expect full closure through the indicated portions of the trail. Additional updates will be shared throughout the process on the Town of Winter Park’s website at WPGov.com/trail-projects-2025 and through Facebook and Instagram.
