Fraser to Granby Trail completed
The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of a bridge over Ten Mile Creek and the completion of the Fraser to Granby Trail took place Thursday, Aug. 30.
The ceremony was sponsored by the Grand Foundation and Icebox Liquors and marked the end of the construction of the trail connecting the towns of Granby, Tabernash, and Fraser.
The final section of the trail was built during the summer and was funded by the Sprout Fund of the Grand Foundation.
Headwaters Trail Alliance has been working on the completion of the trail for more than 15 years and is continuing its work by assessing a trail route to connect the town of Grand Lake to the trail system.
Grand County, Fraser, Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District, Winter Park, and Grand Lake currently fund Headwaters Trail Alliance operations and the completion of the Fraser to Granby Trail is due to much grant writing and volunteer labor.
Trail users can now walk or bike from Granby all the way to Winter Park Resort via the Fraser to Granby Trail and continuing on the Fraser River Trail.
