At Fraser Valley Elementary School, community members are more than willing to lend a hand.

The school has more than 68 volunteers that offer in-class assistance for a variety of subjects including math, reading and music.

Staff and students gathered to celebrate those volunteers at a volunteer appreciation luncheon on Tuesday, May 12.

“It’s just so neat to see grandmas come in and 22-year-olds that work at the ski area,” said Patty Finnegan, a fourth-grade teacher. “It really builds a relationship with the kids.”
