Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails grateful for community support
To the Editor:
Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails (FVPT) held its annual Duck Race fundraiser last month. This enables us to raise money to support National Public Lands Day, Headwaters Trails Alliance, furnish matching funds for grants and fund signs for trails.
FVPT initially funded a position, filled by Andy Miller, (presently funded with a grant from Fraser), to coordinate trails between area neighborhoods, Fraser and regional parks.
The fastest of the 700-plus ducks was adopted by Shelly Kilgas. Shelly generously donated the $300 prize back to FVPT. The next fastest ducks belonged to Hal Jacke, Mark Hutchinson, Stuart Huster, Kathy Gunter and Irene Cooke. There were 40 prizes awarded, which shows how much support the merchants/businesses give to groups like FVPT.
We would like to thank Shelly Kilgas and all the businesses that donated prizes for our event: Snow Mt. Ranch/YMCA of the Rockies, Winter Park Resort, Resort Management/Mike Claney, Grand Elk Golf, The Furniture Store, Mad Rafting, Christy Sports, Ski Depot, Home James, Grand Sports, Pearl Dragon, Seven Sisters, Mirasol, 1 Hr Photo, Backcountry Bound, Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Pizza Hut, Hernando’s, Fontenot’s, Plaza Liquors, Mt. Dawg Outfitters and Plaza Liquors.
Thank you to all of those who adopted ducks, and to the businesses for their continued support of FVPT.
