The Fraser Winter Park Police Department honored the work and dedication of one of its officers with a Tuesday promotion ceremony.
At the Winter Park Town Council meeting, officer Matt Murdoch was promoted to sergeant, which Chief Glen Trainor called one of the toughest jobs in law enforcement. However, Trainor expressed his confidence in Murdoch’s ability to be a great sergeant.
“It’s an incredibly tough job and Matt has certainly paid his dues, so tonight we’re very honored to make him a sergeant,” Trainor said. “I’m proud of you.”
Murdoch joined the department in 2012. Since then, Trainor said he has seen a tremendous amount of growth from Murdoch.
Upon receiving his promotion, Murdoch said he was grateful to work in the community and for the support of his family and fellow officers.
“I’m proud to work for these towns, so thank you for giving me this opportunity,” Murdoch said. “It’s a privilege and a blessing and I look forward to serving for years to come.”
