FRISCO – Frisco’s Walmart is undergoing a wall-to-wall remodel, including an expanded food section for Summit County shoppers. The big-box store is expected to be open during its normal business hours throughout the entire project, and the renovation should be done July 30.

“We’re changing everything,” said store manager Stephen Nail. “It was just time for an update.”

According to a Walmart press release, “the new design is based on feedback from customers and will feature a clean, open and bright new look in the store with wider aisles, low-profile shelving, (a) bright interior paint scheme and lighting, and easy-to-read signage to help customers find the products they need.”

Nail said Walmart is changing its layout for convenience to shoppers, and it will expand its food offering by “roughly doubling” the area’s square footage.

“We’re doubling the dairy and frozen foods, as well as increasing the size of dry grocery,” Nail added. “The goal is to have an offering to where a family can come in and purchase everything they’d need for a meal.”

Nail also said “there was a strong misconception” that Walmart had done away with its arts and crafts section – he said bolt fabrics are no longer being sold, but everything else will remain the same.

Target in Silverthorne is also undergoing a big remodel too. Despite renovations, the store appears to be open during its normal hours. The store manager wasn’t able to comment Monday on the nature of Target’s remodel.
