Give credit where it’s due in passage of Fraser Rec. District bond
March 12, 2008
To the Editor:
There’s a lot of folks who apparently can’t comprehend the value that Grand Park brings, and has brought, to the rec. center table.
First, there probably wouldn’t be a rec. center at all if Grand Park hadn’t funded the campaign to get it passed. They haven’t even taken credit for seeing to it that the only place ignorant naysayers could vote was 25 miles away in Hot Sulphur. That alone ensured that hundreds who might have voted against it weren’t able to.
Thanks especially to the current and former rec. staff who put all their normal duties on the back burner for months to campaign tirelessly for an issue that ill-informed voters had repeatedly turned down in the past.
Shame on you who can’t comprehend how much money it costs to design public buildings. Grand Park provided the design for the rec. center with Grand County in mind. This clever design will mesh seamlessly with the adjacent Grand Park Hotel to ensure a steady supply of tourists. These are the same tourists whose patronage of the rec. center will keep your entry fees affordable.
Sure, it’s a huge ding on your property taxes, but do your best to comprehend how much prestige this rec. center will bring to Grand Park and how much the community gets out of it. There, do you finally get it?
