Grand Lake Town Manager David Hook has announced he will be stepping down from his position as town manager and has begun searching for a new job.

Hook will finish out his contract with Grand Lake, which expires in February 2015. Hook informed the Grand Lake Board of Trustees on Aug. 10 of his decision.

In a letter from Hook dated Aug. 13, he states, “This decision did not come easy. I have treasured my time as Town Manager and as a member of such a special community.”

Hook goes on in the letter to explain his decision to resign as Town Manager, stating, “I need to rebalance my work and personal life, and I have come to the conclusion that I cannot do so as Town Manager in Grand Lake.”

Hook has worked as the Grand Lake town manager for two and a half years. Prior to coming to Grand Lake he worked at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.

He and his wife Cathie are hoping to remain in the area.

“I would love to stay in Grand County if the right opportunity presents itself.” Hook said.
