Glenn Bakken: We’re still trying to clean up the Republican mess
To the Editor:
Republicans want to take America back to the failed policies of Bush/Cheney. Voters are already expressing “buyer’s remorse” about the Republican Party and their extreme agenda.
Republicans don’t care about protecting workers, education, seniors, the environment or our most vulnerable citizens. Republicans came into office gunning to repeal the health care reform law. This law reduces the cost of prescription drugs for seniors, no longer allows lifetime limits on benefits, prevents insurance companies from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions, and keeps millions of young people on their parents policies until age 26.
Republicans want more tax breaks for big oil and millionaires while they balance the budget on the backs of the middle class. President Bush and the Republicans converted the large budget surplus President Clinton gave them into recording-breaking deficits because of Bush’s huge tax breaks for the rich, two wars and the Wall Street bailout … all unpaid for.
I will be working hard for President Obama’s re-election, because he is working hard for us in trying to clean up the Republican mess.
