Glenwood Hot Springs blamed for fish kill

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – The Glenwood Hot Springs Pool will be fined for causing an accidental fish kill in the Colorado River earlier this month.

The (Glenwood Springs) Post Independent reports that wildlife and public health officials have ordered the fine for an accidental release of chlorine bleach mixture into the Colorado River Nov. 2. The spill was caused by an accident during pool maintenance.

The spill has been blamed for killing at least 84 fish, including trout and whitefish.



The size of the fine hasn’t been determined. The Department of Wildlife says the maximum fine is $2,940.
