Granby Airport to close for repairs

The Granby Airport will close June 29 though Oct. 26 for a major project bringing the airport up to general aviation standards.

The runway will be lifted, widened and increased by 41 feet to 5,000 feet in length. Other improvements include relocating the fuel farm and adding safety clearance. The Federal Aviation Administration will fund 95 percent of the $4.35 million upgrade, with 2.5 percent paid for by the state and 2.5 percent covered by Grand County.

Pilots are encouraged to use Kremmling’s McElroy Field where improvements have been completed earlier than scheduled. The Kremmling airport is back to operating full-time, available 24/7.
