Granby approves McDonald’s sign
July 23, 2009
A Granby sign permit approved on Tuesday includes big golden arches.
A McDonald’s restaurant may be City Market’s first lessee in a restaurant/retail development located east of the grocery store.
Grand County’s newest McDonald’s would be located south of the City Market filling station, east of the grocery-store parking area, close to Highway 40.
The restaurant would be part of an 18,000 square-foot commercial complex at City Market.
Granby’s newest commercial square footage is part of a planned development approved back at the time the town approved the City Market store.
This spring, City Market developers finalized site-plan details with town administrators and gained a building permit on Tuesday to start work.
“I think it could be exciting. It changes Granby a little bit,” said Mayor Jynnifer Pierro. “It’s our first fast-food chain. I’ve heard good and bad. I’ve heard of people being excited, and I’ve heard, ‘oh man, we just want to keep Granby the way it is.'”
Although a sign permit may hint to future Happy Meals in Granby, neither City Market corporate headquarters or the franchise in Winter Park confirmed the news by presstime on Thursday.
