The town of Granby has announced the recipients of the 2025 Downtown Business Improvement Grants. This annual program supports revitalization projects for businesses that enhance both the economic vitality and visual appeal of downtown.
This year, the town budgeted $150,000 in grant funding and received $259,226 in project requests, according to a news release from the town. The town awarded businesses the full $150,000 budgeted amount.
A total of 11 businesses applied for grants. One application did not meet the criteria for funding because the business was outside of town limits.
Each application went through review by the Grant Advisory Group, who met with applicants on April 16. The final recommendation was approved unanimously by the Granby Board of Trustees on April 22.
During the trustees meeting, Granby town manager Ted Cherry said that he was glad the program has been gaining traction. Mayor Josh Hardy called this year a “historical education” and said that he learned a lot about the these buildings during applicant interviews.
Since 2021, the town has facilitated more than $1 million in downtown grant awards through local and state resources, the release states.
The following businesses were awarded grant funding for their improvement projects:
- Bowerbird’s Den received $21,983 for heating and facade improvements.
- Carmichael Real Estate/Grand County Rural Health Network was awarded $12,796 for exterior paining, ADA-compliant ramp construction and parking lot repairs.
- Grand Kids Learning Center was given $18,000 for signage, new windows, an ADA-compliant entrance and landscaping improvements.
- New business Lark Coffee was given $3,810 for outdoor seating area improvements.
- Maverick’s Grille received $27,225 for decking and exterior staining.
- MA Studios/Munn Architecture got $11,588 for facade improvements.
- New Mountain Design received $9,000 for signage.
- Two Pines Supply was awarded $4,176 for windows.
- United Business Bank received $16,422 for window and gutters.
- Mountain Family Center was awarded $25,000 for parking lot repairs. This grant is contingent on Mountain Family Center agreeing to close off the current parking lot entrance directly onto U.S. Highway 40. Cherry explained that this will help traffic control and also increase the continuity of the sidewalk area.
As part of the grant agreement, each business commits to a 50/50 cost match and must complete their projects within the 2025 calendar year.
