Granby board to hear motion to reconsider annexation

Sky-Hi News Staff

The Granby Board of Trustees will hear a motion to reconsider its recent annexation of an unincorporated enclave within the town on Jan. 13.

The town, which does not allow any type of marijuana business within its limits, annexed the property on Dec. 9 to prevent a retail marijuana store from opening there.

An attorney representing MMK Limited, the marijuana business owner, and LTTK LLC, the property owner, filed the motion to reconsider in December.

The motion disputes whether the property fits the legal definition of an enclave that is requisite for annexation.

Kevin Speier of MMK Limited told the Sky-Hi News that he hoped to garner enough signatures and support to convince the board to reverse its December decision.

“We at MMK Limited would like to see as many individuals in the area to voice their support of the industry, and voice their opposition to the unlawful ordinance,” Speier said.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Granby Town Hall.
