Granby " E. Grand School District should be more forthright
February 8, 2008
To the Editor:
To steal a phrase from Christie Ann Miller’s grandmother: There’s a rat in the woodpile of the East Grand School District. A big one. Her grandmother used this saying for “a situation that seemed somewhat unsavory, unpleasant, off kilter or just not quite right.”
Why did the East Grand School District Board award the construction contract essentially before the election results were final and without any bids? A multimillion dollar project wasn’t even bid out.
Now, all of a sudden, the District finds nearly $1 million of pocket change lazing around and votes to use it to add to the originally proposed construction projects.
Why not reduce our mill levy instead? Why wasn’t this previously disclosed to the public? Oh, silly questions.
And what about the Super Scam … er … Search? I dislike that the District wasted our tax dollars for this charade. It’s been obvious that Nancy Karas was being groomed for the (superintendent) job. Why didn’t the District just give it to her, instead of wasting time and money with the so called “search?”
These are not the actions of a forthright and fiscally responsible school district. It’s our tax dollars and children’s education at stake. Why are we all standing by and letting these types of things continue? It’s time to storm the Bastille.
