Granby " East Grand School Dsitrct does its best to hire local contractors
To the Editor:
There has been a fair amount of talk concerning the remodeling projects on the Grand County Schools and the use of local contractors. In response to recent criticisms, I would like to share my experience.
First, let me say that I work for a local framing and drywall company based in Granby. The company was first approached by Neenan (the general contractor for the Grand County Schools projects) in regards to the West Grand School Project in Kremmling.
At the time, our schedule was filled and we declined the invitation.
When the East Grand Projects came up last spring, Neenan again contacted us. We submitted bids for work on all the projects and were awarded a good percentage of the work.
I feel compelled to credit Neenan as well as the School Board for actively pursuing bids from local subcontractors. Along with our company, several other local subs are working on the projects, including plumbers, concrete masons, floor layers and electricians.
