Granby Elementary playground has new, green grass

After years of minimal grass on the Granby Elementary School playground, Grady Boomer of Grand County Landscaping, located in Hot Sulphur Springs, organized with East Grand Schools Director of Grounds John Weninger and Granby Elementary School Principal Jane Harmon to purchase sod.

Boomer provided about 33,000 square-feet of sod at cost and donated tools, equipment, and labor, according to East Grand Schools Superintendent Nancy Karas. Indian Peaks Rental, LLC, donated heavy equipment for the day and Bobcat of the Rockies donated the required heavy-equipment attachments. Boomer and Weninger worked alongside as many as 25-30 volunteers to lay the sod. Granby Elementary now has a beautiful playground, complete with luscious green grass for the students to play on by the time school begins in September,” Karas said.
