Granby " Hanes Dawson seriously injured in fall, hospitalized in Denver
March 4, 2008
Hanes Dawson Jr., former Sky-Hi News owner, is reported to be in “serious but stable” condition from a fall that occurred in Granby on Feb. 25.
Dawson was transported down to Denver on a Grand County Emergency Medical Services ambulance.
Unaware that Dawson was in the hospital, friends of the senior citizen contacted Granby police last Thursday, Feb. 28, to go to his Granby home and check on him.
Police Chief Bill Housley forcibly entered his home, only to soon learn from a friend about Dawson’s whereabouts. Granby police had not been called to the scene at the time of the accident, Housley said. Dawson’s house entrance has since been repaired and is secured, the chief said.
Dawson, a Navy Veteran, is the American Legion Alex Klein Post 88 Vice Commander, a Granby commercial business property owner and is the former publisher and advertising manager of the Sky-Hi News from 1974 to 1980.
Future editions of the Sky-Hi Daily News will report details of Dawson’s condition as information becomes available.
