Granby: Knit the day away
Sky-Hi Daily News
This Saturday, the Grand River Coffee Company will offer more then just a fresh cup of coffee. Owner, Jill Miles, has decided to be a volunteer for Worldwide Knit in Public Day.
“Anyone at any level of knitting can attend,” Miles said. “Even if you just want to come and be a part of the community, or know more about it.”
According to the World Wide Knit in Public Day Web site, the event started in 2005 by a woman named Danielle Landes, as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. It is the largest knitter run event in the world put together by volunteers, just like Miles.
This is the first year Miles is going to host the event.
“People can bring whatever items they want to,” Miles said, “including stashes of yarn to trade or sell with others.”
Miles said she will hold the event outside of the coffee shop if weather permits. If not, she will move the event inside.
Locations in Arvada, Denver, Firestone, Greeley and Littleton will also be hosting the event.
Knit in Public begins this Saturday at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
