Granby library showcases two local artists

Special to the Sky-Hi News
Granby, CO Colorado

The Granby Library is currently hosting two display by local artists: John Elliot and Nat Havens. Their work will be available to the public until the end of April.

John “Pop” Elliot of “Plum Beautiful Painting” has been painting for forty years. Having a fanatical recycler for a father, before it was in vogue, John says he acquired a passion for making “beauty out of ashes.” His art primarily consists of recycled materials, including left over drywall scraps, drywall mud, paint, frames, trim, doors, jewelry and more. These materials have been repurposed with inspiration and love to keep Beauty out of the landfill. John’s words to live by include re-think, re-purpose, re-invent, re-claim, re-furbish. Mr. Elliot’s work is on display in the Granby Library’s Community Room.

Nat Havens of “Grand Beads” Fraser Colorado has been making lamp worked beads for over twelve years. He originally signed up to learn glass blowing but was told by a very successful glass artist that he first needed to master lamp work beads. He enjoyed lamp working so much that the glass blowing is on the side line for now. Mr. Havens loves to innovate and is constantly trying new techniques and experimenting. The exhibit can be found in the glass display cases at the west end of the Granby Library.
