The Granby Mart at 82 Agate Ave. has a new owner as of the week of Sept. 24.

John DeCicco, owner of CARQUEST in Granby and Fraser, recently purchased the building from the Samuelson family.

DeCicco plans to use the building as the distribution center for the Lucas Oil Guy company. Lucas Oil Guy sells its products out of route trucks throughout Grand, Summit and Eagle counties, as well as Denver and the Front Range.

Some renovations to the building are planned, though exactly what is unclear at this early stage.

The building does have a history with the auto industry, as it was once Bud and Ken Chalmers’ Auto Repair Shop. According to an article on the Grand County History website, the Samuelson family bought the building in the early 1940s, when it still had a dirt floor. The building, at various times, has housed a bowling alley, a bar for drinking and dancing, and a saddlery.
