Outlined are parcels that will belong to the Town of Granby by this spring. Town officials hope to fund a recreation building and complex there through the cooperation of the town, its citizens, the developer and grant funds.

By springtime, the Town of Granby should own 14 acres donated by Granby Ranch for the location of a recreation facility.

The facility will include outdoor playing fields and possible tennis courts, located south of the Fraser River and east of Highway 40.

At its last meeting, the Granby Town Board settled on a February deadline for the transfer of property. After February, the town will be in the position to plan and build a recreation complex.

Town of Granby staff and elected officials plan to meet with citizens and organizations after the first of the year to start the brainstorming process, according to Granby Town Manager David Huseman.

“A recreation center is incredibly important to this community,” Huseman said. “The board and staff is committed to providing the best facility we can for our residents and visitors.”

Elected officials are anxious to get the project rolling.

“The board is so committed to the project, that if they had it their way, they would start construction tomorrow,” Huseman said.
