Granby Police Department releases public safety advisory for Fourth of July
The Granby Police Department is warning that holiday events may disrupt travel plans.

The Granby Police Department is wishing everyone a happy Fourth of July celebration and has shared important information to ensure that everyone has a safe holiday.
Fireworks within the town of Granby are prohibited, the news release writes. Any person caught violating the town code is subject to punishment.
“Any person causing damage to town parks, property or trails may be subject to a damage assessment and restitution,” the release writes.
Additionally, due to the large number of expected people visiting Granby, the police department is asking the public to be alert for motorists and pedestrians. Officers will be enforcing downtown traffic laws and speed limits.
From July 3-5, the Flying Heels Rodeo Arena will have rodeo events each night beginning at 7 p.m. Motorists should expect significant vehicle traffic and delays near the arena from 5-7 p.m. and from 9-10 p.m. after the event ends. Law enforcement will be by the area assisting with traffic direction, but motorists should be cautious and alert when traveling in the area.
The town of Granby will have many activities over the next few days that may potentially impact traveling plans.
- Friday, July 4:
- No vehicle parking on Agate Avenue from 8 a.m. until parade conclusion at approximately 12:30 p.m.
- Detours will be in place for east and west vehicle traffic using U.S. Highway 40 and in town traffic beginning at 10:30 a.m.
- Due to the aerial flyover during the parade, no drones or UAV’s are permitted.
- Parade observers need to stay out of lanes of traffic to ensure no one is hurt by parade vehicles or animals.
- Saturday, July 5:
- Granby’s 5K color run begins on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Rocky Mountain Roastery located at 516 E. Agate St. Over 200 participants will run along sections of Highway 40, Ten Mile Drive, Kaibab Park and Agate Avenue. The Granby Police Department asks that motorists be aware of increased pedestrian traffic in the downtown area during this time.
- A temporary road closure of Ten Mile Drive from Highway 40 to Pioneer Drive will be in effect for approximately 45-60 minutes while the race is in progress to ensure the safety of race participants.
- A temporary “no parking” restriction along the south side of Highway 40 will be in effect from S. Zero Street through Fifth Street during the event. No parking restrictions will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. and will be lifted at the conclusion of the 5K race
- Sunday, July 6:

The Town of Granby bike parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at Polhamus Park.

The parade route involves Mesa Street, Jasper Avenue, Third Street, Topaz Avenue, Garnet Street, New Church Circle and New Church Ave.

The police department encourages motorists to avoid this area between the times of 11 a.m. to noon while the event takes place.
