Granby Ranch cancels NYE events as COVID cases rise

As COVID-19 cases increase nationwide due to the omicron variant, Granby Ranch’s management has decided to cancel this week’s big events.

Following a Monday conversation with the US Freestyle Ski Team, in the interest of the athletes competing in Beijing in Februrary, involved parties agreed to cancel the squad’s pre-Olympic training camp that had been planned this week at Granby Ranch.

The management team added that in consideration of staff and guest well-being, the ski resort will be canceling all of the New Year’s Eve festivities planned for Friday evening.

The resort had planned to host an evening concert with fireworks and a torchlight parade on Friday. The move marks the first apparent major cancellation at a Colorado ski resort.

“This was a tough call in that we had a great many terrific activities and programming lined up for the evening,” management wrote in a letter to the Granby Ranch community. “However, again, it is clearly in the best interests of our staff and guests not to host the events scheduled for New Year’s Eve.”

All other ski resort related operations are expected to proceed ahead as scheduled with no additional COVID related restrictions or protocols at this time.
