Fly Fishing Classes offered in Granby, Feb. 21Join the Granby Recreation Department and the staff of Mo Henrys Trout Shop for interactive casting, knot tying, stream entomology and learning what it takes to fly fish.A minimum of six participants is needed for each class. Classes will take place Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Indoor Soccer Dome. The Beginner Clinic is from 10 a.m. to noon; Practice Demo Time, noon to 1 p.m.; Advanced Casting Clinic, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The cost for each class is $25. Registration is required one week prior to each clinic by calling the Granby Recreation Department at (970) 887-3961.Guitar lessons offered, starting Feb. 5Learn to play the Guitar with the Granby Recreation Department and Instructor Dave Hemphill. Group lessons will take place on Thursday nights for the following age groups: 9-11 years; 12-15 years and ages 16-Adults.The cost for the 9- week session is $135. Classes will begin Thursday, Feb 5 and go through April 2. The registration deadline for these classes is Monday, Feb 2. Drop-in Exercise at the Indoor Soccer Dome, starting Jan. 20Even though the roads are covered in ice and snow, there is still a way to continue your outside workout.The Granby Recreation Department is offering its Indoor Soccer Dome for drop-in exercise Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, Jan. 20. Each drop-in session will cost $3, or a 10-session punch card may be purchased for $20. Call the Recreation Department at 887-3961 for more information.Toddler Free Play on Wednesday, starting Feb. 4Parents are welcome to bring their toddlers for free play activities and fun from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18, and 25 at the Granby Indoor Soccer Dome.The Granby Recreation Department will supply balls and games that will help parents and children ages 3-5 interact with one another. Pre-registration is required one week prior to the start of the program. The cost is $25 for session. A minimum of five participants is needed. Winter Strength & Conditioning Classes Continue in GranbyThe Granby Recreation Department and instructor Michelle Snow are offering several strength and conditioning classes to keep those pounds off. The workout incorporates interval cardio training and weight lifting.On-going four week sessions take place at 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 6:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays; and 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursdays at the Granby Community Building.The cost is $40 for any 8 classes (throughout a 4 week session), $70 for unlimited classes, or $8 drop in fee (if space allows). For more information call the Granby Recreation Department at (970) 887-3961, or just show up for a class.Hatha Yoga Classes Offered in GranbyInstructor Betsy Cooks yoga workout incorporates pranayama (breathing), and asanas (poses), that form an individual yoga practice.Classes take place at 6 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and at 12:05 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Granby Community Building.Classes are free with a suggested donation of $6 per class.
