Granby reviews policy for use of town vehicles
The manager of the town of Granby is developing a new policy that would further restrict employees from driving town vehicles home at the end of their shift.
Manager Wally Baird said he has received a couple of complaints from citizens who have noticed town vehicles being driven out-of-town.
At the end of May, Trustee Elaine Henrekin brought the issue to the Granby trustees table when she asked why the street superintendent drives the town truck home.
Current town policy does allow directors, including the police chief, to take municipal vehicles home, according to Baird.
But a review of that policy is presently under way. Trustees agreed that a new proposed policy should be more restrictive, such as no round trips greater than three miles.
