Granby: Search for E. Grand superintendent enters final phase
The nationwide search for a new superintendent for the East Grand School District is entering its final phase. After an executive session by the East Grand Board of Education on Monday, Jan. 7, the list of candidates has been narrowed down to four. A total of 15 applicants were reviewed by the board during the session.Commenting on background and experience of the four candidates, President Tom Sifers of the East Grand school board described them as impressive.The four candidates will be in the East Grand School District next week. Each will be going through a separate daylong session planned Monday through Thursday, Jan. 14-17. The purpose of next weeks sessions is to introduce the candidates to the districts schools, staff, students and community. Each days session will culminate in a formal interview with the East Grand Board of Education.The sessions will also give the candidates and their families a chance to evaluate the East Grand School District to determine if it is right for them.The East Grand Board of Education will select the new superintendent. His retirement will become effective when the school year ends on June 30.The superintendent search was conducted for the East Grand School District by McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. beginning last August. The consultants reviewed, screened, and conducted extensive background checks on the 15 applicants. During Mondays executive session, the consultants presented the list of applicants to the Board of Education and provided them with detailed background information on each applicant. The board selected the above-named candidates as those who most closely match the selection criteria established by the board, school staff and community.The consultant from McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. will continue working with the East Grand Board of Education and the new superintendent during the next year.
