Granby transit line moves forward with summer schedule

The Lift, Fraser and Winter Park's free transit service, began operations in 2015.

Following two transit open houses, Granby’s regional Lift commuter line will be moving forward with a summer route that offers early morning and late evening loops for riders.

This is the first year that the Lift, Winter Park’s bus service, will provide the Granby Regional Commuter Line during the summer since it was approved for year-round service last October.

Two open houses, one in Granby and one in Winter Park, were hosted earlier this week and riders were presented three service alternatives and asked to vote for the schedule they liked the best.

“We’re asking the community to tell us what service is going to work for them,” said Michael Koch, transit manager for Winter Park. “I think it’s vitally important that the community is involved in the service they’re being offered.”

Ultimately, the most popular choice was the schedule that includes a loop starting in Granby at 6:30 a.m., an afternoon loop at 1 p.m. and the evening loops begin at 5 p.m. and go until 11:30 p.m.

The summer schedule, which runs from May until October, will keep the same route and stops as the current winter schedule, which runs November through April.

Koch will be presenting the proposed summer schedule to the Transit Advisory Committee at 4 p.m. Monday during its regular meeting for approval, but he said the Lift system is ready to roll the route out as soon as it’s given the green light.
