Paul Robertson, a Granby Town Trustee and a volunteer with Grand County Search and Rescue, underwent emergency surgery last week for complications related to gastric cancer.

Robertson, who remains at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, is not expected to survive, according to family members.

“The incredible outpouring of love, prayers and support from all facets of the community have given Paul and his family the strength to endure this sad and most difficult time,” read a statement provided by a representative of the Robertson family.

Originally from Minnesota, Robertson lived in Indianapolis for many years before moving to the Granby area roughly eight years ago. He was appointed to the Granby Board of Trustees in January 2016 after the death of Trustee Charlie LaBrake. Robertson was formally elected to a four-year term on the board a few months later in April.

Along with his civic service as a town trustee, Robertson also served with Grand County Search and Rescue where he held the title of field director.
