Granby’s first Day of the Dead celebration to be held at Middle Park High School this year

Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos is a holiday with Mexican origins where families celebrate the deceased with food, drink and festivities. The souls of the deceased are thought to be reunited with the living on Nov. 1 and 2, however other dates are sometimes celebrated.
Latinos en Grand County has partnered with Destination Granby to bring Granby’s first Day of the Dead celebration to residents. The celebration will take place at Middle Park High School on Nov. 2 from 4-8 p.m.
The celebration will feature performances by Basaseachi Ballet Folklorico and the mariachi band Las Dahlias. Local artists will also have colorful art displays at the event and traditional altars will be located in different areas around town.
Latinos en Grand County is made up of Latinos working together to encourage and educate the Grand County community on culture and traditions. They invite Grand County families to come celebrate Día de los Muertos in Granby on Nov. 2.
There are sponsorship opportunities for the event and the commitment deadline is Oct. 1. Payment for sponsorships is due by Oct. 15 and all contributions should be made out to Destination Granby, specifying the name of the event Día de los Muertos.
