Grand County Blues Society thanks Rotary Club for inviting Tab Benoit to speak

To the Editor:

The Grand County Blues Society would like to thank the Rotary Club for its gracious invitation to Tab Benoit on Tuesday. Tab was very excited that such a well respected organization would go to such fuss to listen to him speak about the cause he holds so dear ” coastal erosion of his homeland.

We were able to have a screening of the Imax film “Hurricane On The Bayou,” which features Tab as one of the main speakers and performers. His music is one of the highlights of the soundtrack.

Thanks to Anna Winkel for the film equipment and taking time to bring it to us. Also thanks to Will Arduino and the Rotary Club for all the hard work. Thanks to Cyndi Palmer of the Sky-Hi News for helping get people out. A big thanks to all of you who took time out of their day to hear a very passionate and knowledgeable speech from Tab.

As time passes by, Tab and Grand County have become great allies. The 4th Annual Tab Benoit Golf Classic to benefit Voice of The Wetlands is scheduled for Aug. 22.

Put that date on your golf calendar and please continue to learn about the plight of the Cajun culture as the battle for Louisiana’s coastline and wetlands continue.
