Grand County: Boy Scouts going dormant pending greater interest

To the Editor:

On behalf of The Boy Scouts of America, Grand County Troop 105 and the communities we serve, I wish to thank all the adult volunteers who have made scouting possible in this area.

Were it not for your sacrifice and commitment to scouting, our young men would not have had the opportunity to grow and learn about morals, ethics and character. I would also like to thank each and every one of the young men who have participated in Troop 105 and I wish each of them nothing but the best.

For some time, attendance has been minimal in the program, and it is the decision of the Troop committee to discontinue meetings and activities for a time until interest in scouting resurfaces in Grand County. In the meantime, we will continue to encourage youth to emulate the Scout ethic in their personal lives and strive to help others when they can.

Finally I would like to thank the community of Grand County for all the support you have shown us over the years. It has been an honor to serve you and help make a difference in the lives of young people. Peace and God’s Blessings.

Lawrence F. Norman

Scoutmaster, Troop 105
