Grand County Sheriff’s deputies are actively investigating a report of a police impersonator that occurred Saturday night along Highway 34, according to a posting by the Sheriff’s Office.

The incident involved two suspect vehicles, a white sedan with no visible markings and an unknown second vehicle with flashing red and blue lights.

“We take these crimes very seriously and they will not be tolerated,” the Sheriff’s Office Facebook posting says. “Please contact any law enforcement agency if you see any suspicious activity.”

The posting points out that all of deputies are prepared to provide official credentials upon request and will provide a business card when issuing a warning. Motorists may also call Dispatch, 970-725-3311, to verify the validity of the officer.
