Grand County first responders did an excellent job

To the Editor:

We feel we must bring to the community’s attention the outstanding service our family received from our police and medical personnel in Granby.

Our father, whom was visiting from Texas, had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest. Making a 9-1-1 call, our operator was calm and efficient. Officer Dan Zacek Smith was at our home very quickly, and along with my husband Jim Beck performed life-saving CPR. Shortly thereafter EMS arrived and promptly took over. The doctor and nurses at Granby Medical ER did an excellent job stabilizing him for Flight for Life, all the while treating us very compassionately.

The people who responded to our emergency on July 25 were quick, professional and knowledgeable, and handled our situation with extreme competence. If it were not for the prompt attention and expert care he received he would not have survived his heart attack.

We wish that we knew everyone’s names that responded that night so that we may thank each of you in person. Please know that we are very thankful that the emergency system we have in place here in Grand County worked for us that night.
