Grand County Historical Assocation ramps up seasonal events

To the Editor:

Exciting things are happening at the Grand County Historical Association museums.

In the Pioneer Village at Hot Sulphur Springs a new exhibit will be open by May 24. It is a military display including uniforms and information from several conflicts. The opening will be celebrated along with the addition to the “Indian” room that was completed last fall.

Mr. Jim Chase of Granby is a well known local for his work in Indian and related artifacts and will be hosting our open house event to show off our new exhibits. Please watch for local advertising.

The Tuff Shed Co. has donated a small storage she, which we intended to use for our Garage Sales. It has been placed on the property at Hot Sulphur Springs. I am ready to start taking donated items.

You must call first: 970-725-3374. I have an answering machine and will return calls. ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED ONLY BY APPOINTMENT. I am going to be available a couple of times each week to meet you at the Museum. We will NOT be accepting dirty and/or broken items or junk, tires, clothes, skis or boots, TVs or computers and exercise equipment. All other items will be accepted on salability and we reserve the right to refuse any or all items on sight.

Since plans are to have a sale several times during the summer we hope to have things that people might need for living in a small place.

For all of you folks that have travel ideas please take note ” the Historical Association is going on board with a local family for a wonderful trip in November.

The trip is being scheduled for Nov. 19 through Nov. 30. I will highlight the places here and then if you want all of the details you can call the Grand County Historical Association office at 970-725-3939 for a copy.

The trip will start on a Delta flight from Denver to New York and then Delta nonstop to Instanbul, Turkey. Two days in Instanbul and then cruise on Louis Cruises, Crystal from Nov. 22 to Nov 28 when arriving in Athens, Greece. Next day is a day tour in Athens and the afternoon in Athens on your own. Sunday Nov. 30 Delta nonstop to New York connecting with Delta nonstop to Denver.

This travel package has been put together by a local agency. Our price will include a donation to GCHA operating fund so please sign up for a great Thanksgiving trip.

Please plan your spring visit to a museum.
