Grand County honors veterans
The Grand County Veteran’s Day Breakfast and event was held at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch Friday morning Nov. 11.
After a hearty breakfast prepared by the staff at YMCA Grand County Veteran’s Service Officer Duane Dailey led the several hundred attendees in a solemn ceremony recognizing all those who have served our nation in military uniform. The morning’s ceremony featured multiple musical performances by Granby Elementary students as well as more traditional martial music such as bagpiping and trumpeters.
A portion of the ceremony focused on the recognition of Prisoners of War (POWs) and those who have been declared Missing In Action (MIA) and featured an honorary empty table setting for all those who have traveled to foreign battlefields and been forever lost in the tumult of war. Additionally event organizers featured a special presentation on military chaplains and how the clergy supports the overall needs of soldiers, sailors and airmen during times of war.
The Sky-Hi News wishes to express our thanks to veterans in Grand County, and from throughout the nation, for their dedication and sacrifice to this nation. Thank you veterans for all you do, have done, and will continue to do in the future.
