The Grand County Junior All Stars baseball team was scheduled to play in the championship round against Colorado Springs on Tuesday evening in Rifle.

A win Tuesday would mean taking on Colorado Springs again tonight, Wednesday, to seal the state championship.

The 13- to 14-year-old athletes have been competing in the state finals since last Saturday, with a victory against Rifle, a loss against Colorado Springs and a 5-4 “come-back-from-behind-bottom-of-the-seventh” win against Platt Canyon, according to coach James Newberry. Two more wins would mean a spot in the western regionals in Texas.
