Grand County law enforcement to conduct stings for businesses selling alcohol to minors
The Fraser – Winter Park Police Department, Granby Police Department, Kremmling Police Department, and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Grand Futures, will be conducting underage alcohol compliance checks on various occasions throughout 2009.
Authorized underage individuals will be entering businesses across Grand County that are licensed to serve or sell alcoholic beverages and will attempt to make a purchase.
Businesses and employees caught selling or serving an alcoholic beverage to these individuals will be issued a summons and will be referred to the Grand County District
Attorney’s Office for criminal prosecution.
Selling an alcoholic beverage to an underage person in Colorado is a class two misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to a $1000 fine and/or 12 months imprisonment.
Funding for these compliance checks has been awarded to all of the Grand County Law Enforcement agencies through a grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through the Colorado Department of Revenue Liquor Enforcement Division.
