Grand County, let your voices be heard on Windy Gap Firming Project

To the Editor:

I’m writing to express my pure enjoyment for living in a community who is so passionate about protecting our local environment and the rivers that support that environment.

On Thursday, Oct. 9, citizens from every corner of Grand County filled the conference center at the Inn at SilverCreek to show a united front on the Windy Gap Firming issue. I am proud that so many well prepared and intelligent comments were expressed in the four hours of public testimony.

I am also proud of the Ski-Hi Daily News who has brought this issue to the forefront of people’s minds and given them the background to make the impressive comments that I heard that night.

For those who were unable to make this meeting or were there but were unable to speak, you can still comment by mail or e-mail. These comments will be as important as those that were stated at the public hearing. The best list of comment points that I have seen is the editorial column in the Wednesday, Oct. 8, Ski-Hi Daily News.

You should send your comments to Will Tully, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Eastern Colorado Area Office, 11056 W. County Road 18E, Loveland, CO 80537-9711 or even faster would be a quick e-mail to

We have until Oct. 28 to exercise the only power that we have in this process ” our voice.
