Grand County Library District hopes to expand branch hours
The Grand County Library District has announced that it plans to increase open hours for all of its branches beginning in mid-May.
“Although the Library District continues to operate on a deficit budget, a legal settlement and recent refinancing of debt have increased the Library District’s reserves, prompting the Grand County Library District Board of Trustees to re-evaluate its financial planning for the upcoming years,” according to a statement released by the district.
“The Board of Trustees and Library District’s finance committee have undertaken careful financial forecasting to decide how these additional reserve funds should be allocated,” the statement continues. “The decision to increase open hours at each branch was a direct result of the library district’s survey of the Grand County community conducted in November 2014, which indicated that additional open hours was the number one priority for the vast majority of the survey respondents.”
The library district is reviewing various factors to help determine the additional days and hours in each branch. Look out for more information as it becomes available on the GCLD website at http://www.gcld.org.
