County officials hope to have live audio streaming from Grand County commissioner meetings available by the end of January.

Once in place, the new system will allow users to access live audio from county meetings via Grand County’s website, said Martin Woros, the county’s director of information systems. Starting with the system’s inception, users will also have access to archived meetings.

“We were really trying to have this in by the beginning of the year, but unfortunately we didn’t have the contract done until December,” Woros said.

The county has contracted with Granicus Inc., to provide the streaming service, Woros said.

The new system includes an up front cost to the county of $3,800 and a monthly fee of $400, Woros said.

Recordings of past and future meetings will still be available from the clerk and recorder’s office.

The county is also looking to improve the amplification in the board of commissioners meeting room, Woros said.

“We’re going to put in a sound mixer that hopefully what we’re able to do is improve the quality of the amplification in the back of the room,” Woros said.

The county will also be adding microphones to the board table.

The changes should improve the sound quality of the audio streaming once it begins, Woros said.
